CIO Summit 2012

The New Zealand CIO Summit is recognised as the foremost gathering of CIOs and senior IT executives in New Zealand.

The role of the CIO is evolving from that of a technology implementer to that of a guardian, business enabler, and executive partner. This was the theme from the annual CIO Summit held in Auckland in June 2011. If CIOs fail to adapt, they face a very real risk of becoming irrelevant. Many of the presentations placed a particular emphasis on the CIO's role as a driver and marketer of innovation within the organisation and how CIOs need to step up in terms of developing the skill sets more commonly seen in other levels of the C-suite, such as executive leadership and communication skills.

The success of the 2011 New Zealand CIO Summit was captured in the enthusiasm, energy and excitement of more than 550 participants. The CIO community reported the high value of information and knowledge they received and the unique opportunity to network with peers. The feedback from sponsors was unprecedented.
