Cheryl Adams - Intergenite Profile

What do you do?Cheryl Adams

I’m the General Manager in Dunedin so am responsible for the growth and success of our Dunedin office. It’s my job to empower the amazing team we’ve got here in Dunedin to deliver outstanding value to our clients. Specifically I’m involved in project management, business development, as well as the day to day office management needed to keep us operating efficiently. From Sunny Dunedin we look after clients throughout Otago and Southland so I am very much looking forward to travelling to and working in a lot of places that I also spend leisure time in.

How do you make a difference?

I love solving problems and delivering results! I have also been acknowledged for my ability to analyse complex problems and extract the essential issues. I develop strong relationships based on respect and trust and am dedicated to the efficient use of resources. All of those attributes are used every day be it helping a graduate developer embark on his career or working with clients to determine the best path forward.

What do you love about your job?

Intergen has upwards of 250 enthusiastic, intelligent and articulate people who all take real ownership of the projects they’re working on. That, alongside the awesome efficacy of a mature Project Management Office and the real focus on strong customer relationships makes coming to work every day an absolute pleasure. Added to that, in my Business Development role, I have a particular responsibility for the education sector, I’ve always been passionate about maximising people’s potential and am therefore relishing the opportunity to add value to this sector.

I’m not a technologist so cannot get lost in the detail and instead make very good use of Intergen’s extensive knowledge of the Microsoft products. Our business structure means it’s really easy to access the right technical information, our extremely close relationship with Microsoft in the US means I can trust the information I’m given. All of that means I can talk to our clients with confidence in both the solution we’re proposing and our ability to deliver that solution. Once we’re underway with a project or into the post-project support phase my job is to remove any roadblocks to delivery… did I mention I like solving problems?

A bit about yourself…

Born a Farmer’s daughter in Mid Canterbury I now live on a ‘no-lifestyle’ block just out of Port Chalmers with partner and two pre-school boys. I love the South Island of New Zealand and seize any opportunity to be out in it – tramping, fishing, boating, diving, running, biking or just plain old relaxing (all around the children of course). My degree’s in Mechanical Engineering which is a little unique in the IT industry! Prior to coming to Intergen I spent seven years as GM at Animation Research so am happy to talk sport with anyone who’s keen.
