Emergency Management Systems for your Organisation

Presented by Bryan Gallagher, Managing Consultant, Public Safety and EMIS - Intergen.

Held on the 27th of April 2011 in Wellington.

In particularly volatile times, we realise more than ever how important it is to plan for outcomes brought about by situations beyond our control. Emergency Management is high on the organisational agenda, and technology plays a pivotal role in helping us plan for emergency scenarios.

This was an opportunity to hear from Intergen’s Public Safety team on the use of Emergency Management systems. To give this context Bryan covered our own use of Emergency Management systems during and after the Christchurch earthquakes. Bryan looked at how we used alerting technology to quickly ascertain and understand the situation of our Christchurch staff after the earthquakes, and then manage the on-going coordination resulting from inability to access the office and resources.

Bryan also gave an overview/demo of the Emergency Management Information System (EMIS) solution we’re implementing for the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management and wider CDEM groups, and how this same solution could add value to other organisations.
